But before that, let’s talk about Usborne Books shall we?
Let’s get in right into it!
Name: Usborne Books
Owners: Randall White (CEO)
Price: $75 up to $125
SAP Ratings: 40/100
Best Suited For: People who loves to read and are looking for an opportunity to make money by selling books.
Summary: Usborne Books & more is a MLM company which focuses on selling books, especially children educational books. The quality of their books are definitely there, but I wouldn’t say the same thing about their business opportunity.
What Is Usborne Books?
Usborne Books is a multi-level marketing company, however, they are not as typical as you might think. This MLM company sells books, and it is not very often you see a MLM company selling books.
But aside from that, it is still the same as any MLM companies.
Usborne Books is owned by another company named Education Development Corporation (EDC).
This company has been named one of the fastest growing small company by Forbes, yes, I know… Forbes. And not just once, but a couple of times.
They also received a numerous amount of awards for their work in the business industry, in 2012 they were named publisher of the year.
Independent publisher of the year in 2014, and they won the UK private business of the year award in 2015.
I am sure there are plenty more where that came from, but that’s to show how the company is indeed a blooming one.
But whether this company is good enough for you to make money or not, is a different question. Usborne Book hasn’t been filed for too many bad things.
In my years of experience with MLM’s, it is not uncanny for a network marketing company to have some kind of lawsuit filed against them.
So far, there’s isn’t anything worth talking about when it comes to bad reputation.
But I want you to know that regardless of their reputation, it is not a great idea to do business with Usborne Books, just from the fact that they’re a MLM.
What Are The Best Usborne Books?
If you want to do business with a network marketing company, you should know what they are selling and what the best-selling product is.
I may not talk about everything they are selling, but I will, however, talk about the best-selling ones and the books they are offering in general.
There are variety types of books they are offering.
- Season Titles
- Spanish Titles
These are just a few, there are at the very least five to ten more.
The books they are offering are mostly for children, for kids as young as 1 year old. You can browse around and pick the age you are looking for.
I may be against doing business with them, but I have to admit that Usborne Books has quality products.
The books are well illustrated for kids who are eager to learn through visuals, parents love it as well, all in all their quality is no joke.
Now the reason they are offering quality books is because they have around 35 amazing writers and 50 outstanding book designers.
They put a lot of effort and passion into this company, this is quoted by the CEO himself.
“Literacy is so important. It’s the key to everything.”
—Randall White, EDC CEO and UBAM Founder
How To Make Money With Usborne Books
This is something a lot of you are asking, right? Can I make money selling Usborne books? The answer is, definitely, BUT…always look out for the but.
But you have to be a consultant, so joining is the easy part, paying for the starter kit, that’s the hard part.
They have two kits available for you, the new consultant mini kit and the new consultant kit.
New Consultant Mini Kit
You will get 2 featured books and 8 random popular books, the total value is around $175 for the whole kit. ($75)
New Consultant Kit
You will get 3 featured books and 17 random popular books, the total value is around $280 for the whole kit. ($125)
Most MLM companies are very expensive to start with, they would require you to purchase a good amount of products to stay doing business with them.
Regardless if you are making money or not.
And if you are not careful you can easily stack hundreds if not thousands of dollars worth of products in your warehouse just for show.
Trust me, I have done that, I am speaking out of experience even if its kinda embarrassing. But it is what it is, I learned from it.
The easiest way to make money with Usborne Books is by selling it to friends and families, at parties, schools etc. Just anywhere you think has a lot of kids and children around is a good place for you to sell a lot of books.
So be prepared to invest some money into purchasing enough books.
And the second method of earning with Usborne books is by recruiting people to join Usborne Books. I know this may not sound like a big deal, but if you are not doing this, you are leaving a lot of money on the table.
Usborne Compensation Plan
The first thing I will tell you about compensation plans from multi-level marketing companies is that they are really difficult to understand.
Let me explain to you what I understand from their compensation plan.
There are 3 level, and each level has a different commission rate. Take a look.
This level is the basic level, you will earn around 15%-30% commission for every sale you make. If you make at least $350 on sales a month, you will receive 3-5% of that as bonus commission as well.
Last but not least, you can make 4% commissions on your recruits if you make at least $350 on net sales.
Get 5 bronze level recruits and 5 active consultants while making at least $700 on net sales and $2000 on team sales for two consecutive months to be eligible for this level.
You can get 2% on your recruit’s net sales if the net sales is worth at least $350 and 11% on team sales, yours included.
To be eligible for this level you need to have at least a monthly team net worth of $25000, three first level and one third level.
Aside from these level about commission rates and bonuses, you need to know the basics of any MLM company. And the basics in any compensation plan is, how to make money.
Direct sales are sales you make by directly selling to people you think or know will buy from you. In most cases, this method won’t make you rich within a MLM company.
But with Usborne Books, this is exactly how you can make most of your money, by selling directly.
Most MLM’s are making more than 60% of their income by recruiting others to work under you, but not with Usborne Books, they are the opposite.
Recruiting is something you shouldn’t forget about when joining a MLM company, because they bring home most of the money.
But in this case, you can focus more on selling than the actual recruiting.
The more people you recruit, the more you can earn without really selling anything, as long as the people you recruited are selling.
This earning method looks like a pyramid if you would draw it out on paper.
Take a look at this video about Usborne Books business opportunity:
Is Usborne Books A Pyramid Scheme?
This is something all MLM companies have to go through. 99% of all network marketing companies are being accused of being a pyramid scheme. And do you know why?
Let me tell you why, but how about you take a look at the picture down below first.
You see that, that’s exactly how a pyramid scheme works, you recruit and recruit til you have hundreds and thousands of people working under you.
Why? That’s the only way you can make money.
But with MLM’s that’s just one of the method you can do to make money, and it would be a shame not to, because then you would be leaving a lot of money on the table.
Multi-level marketing companies have many elements similar to a pyramid scheme thus the accusation.
But rest assured, Usborne is not a pyramid scheme and I don’t think they will ever be one. But that doesn’t mean I think they are a valid business model.
Is Usborne Books A Scam?
I want to help you get rid of your confusion as quickly as possible, the answer to that question is NO. Usborne Books is not a scam, there is no way it can be a scam.
But it is not a company you should do business with, being a good company that sells good quality product is not the same as being a company that offers good business opportunity.
Usborne is still a MLM, so even though it is slightly different here and there, the fact remains, you cannot get a stable full time income with it, let alone getting rich.
And the reason I say that is because I have tried multi-level marketing companies before just like how you are about to, but I have had no success with it.
I was naive and wasted a lot of money on MLM, I should have done a proper research on whether they are doable or not, profitable or not.
I later came to realize that 99% of people joining a MLM company fails. Embarrassingly, I was one of them as well.
You can make money, but the question is how likely? (Not likely at all, 1%)
Once you get past that, you still have the question of how much can you earn? (Not a lot)
- Quality Products: Like I said before, I really like the quality of their books. They seem to have put a lot of effort and passion into making those books.
- Inexpensive Products: The books they sell are not too expensive, most of them are probably cheaper than those you found in a bookstore.
- Direct Sales Over Recruiting: One more thing that I really like about this MLM company is how they want their consultants to make money. Consultants can make more money by selling directly to their customers than by recruiting other people.
- Lack of Training Materials: Seeing how the consultants of this MLM company makes most of their money by selling, they should have provided enough information on how to make quicker and better sales. A lack of training materials.
- Extremely Low Success Rate: This one is a very common dislike for 99% of MLM companies. They are just way too hard to succeed with. If you are lucky enough to be the 1%, hats down to you, but we both know that’s very unlikely, unless you started with the company since day 1.
- Recruitment Annoyance: Recruiting may not be the number one earning option within Usborne, but that doesn’t mean you should not recruit. And in simple term, once you step into the recruiting game, you are an annoying person trying to make money by asking other people to join.
